Things to Know in the South End Today, Feb. 20: Crash Course in Tango
1. Weather: The National Weather Service is predicting increasing clouds, with a high near 38 degrees and wind gusts up to 30 mph. 2. Learn to Tango: Step into the new MOVIMIENTO (450 Harrison Ave.) for a crash course on authentic Argentine Tango tonight at either 6:30 p.m. or 8 p.m. No dance experience is required. You’ll learn the basic elements, practice drills, and work on movement quality as well as partner connection. The musical structures of Argentine Tango will be introduced. Saxophonist at Darryl’s: Head to Darryl’s Corner Bar & Kitchen (604 Columbus Ave.) tonight at 7 p.m. to hear critically acclaimed saxophonist Nat Simpkins. Simpkins has performed all over the world at major venues and continues to be active as a saxophonist on the international music scene. See here for more information. 4. New England Home Show: New England’s largest and longest running home show returns starting today through Feb. 24 at the Seaport World Trade Center (200 Seaport Blvd.) The show will cover everything from gardening to flooring, to techniques to tools, and there will be more than 500 experts on hand to answer your DIY questions while providing hands-on demos.
