Cause of Death Issued for Tamerlan Tsarnaev

The death of accused Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev has been ruled a homicide, according to a WCVB-TV report.

According to the report, Tsarnaev’s death was caused by gunshot wounds from police bullets and being run over by a car. Tsarnaev, 26, was pronounced dead at Beth Israel Deaconness Medical Center in Boston at 1:35 a.m. on Friday, April 19.

Specifically, Tsarnaev sustained gunshot wounds to his torso and “extreme” blunt trauma to his head and torso, according to WCVB.

Police have said Tsarnaev was run over by his brother, Dzhokar, during a shootout with police in Watertown. Dzhokar, 19 escaped the gun battle but was later captured hiding in a boat at a Watertown home

The Graham, Putnam and Mahoney Funeral Home in Worcester, which plans to handle Tamerlan’s funeral arrangements, said the body will undergo a second autopsy, according to the Boston Herald.

The Massachusetts Medical Examiner’s Office released the body to Tamerlan’s relatives on Thursday, May 2. Tamerlan’s uncle, Ruslan Tsarni, is in Worcester to help with the funeral arrangements, according to the Globe read more

More than 300 Snow Removal Tickets Issued in South End in February

If your property or business received a ticket for improper snow removal related to the Blizzard of 2013, you’re not alone. More than 300 South End property owners and businesses faced fines and tickets related to snow removal, according to city data.

The fines, at anywhere from $ 25 to $ 300 depending on the offense, were issued for violations such as clearing snow from private property back onto city streets, or failing to clear 42″ worth of sidewalk space in front of property. 

Overall in Boston, 2,413 tickets were issued in the month of February, according to the Boston Globe, which compiled the city’s public records. 

Below is a list of the number of snow removal tickets and fines issued in February by the city for each South End Ward: 

Ward 4 – Fenway, South End, Back Bay – 44
Ward 8 – South End, Roxbury – 208
Ward 9 – South End, Roxbury – 57

Blizzard Warning Issued for Boston

The latest snowfall totals map as of 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7.

What began as a blizzard watch for the Boston area has now been upgraded to a blizzard warning

The National Weather Service issued the warning for the majority of Eastern Massachusetts Thursday afternoon, as it anticipates about 2 feet of snow to descend upon the area Friday into Saturday.

“White out conditions are anticipated as roads become snow-covered by the Friday evening commute,” the warning states. “Strong north-northeast winds are anticipated with gusts up to around 60 miles per hour, resulting in blowing and drifting of snow. Damage to trees and structures along with scattered power outages are anticipated.”

Residents can expect the potential of snow falling at 3-to-4 inches per hour and wind gusts of more than 20 miles per hour.
