Boston Man Charged with Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon
Officers were called to the intersection of Lenox Street and Shawmut Avenue, where there were reports of people throwing snowballs at cars. Officers spoke to a group of six to nine people, all of whom a witness claimed were throwing snowballs at cars. Officers recognized two of the people in the group and stopped them. Officers noticed one of the men reportedly moving his hands inside his sweatshirt. Officers ordered the man to remove his hands. When the suspect did not, officers conducted and pat and frisk. The officer reportedly found a hard object, which was later determined to be a cell phone. When the officer went to search the suspect’s waistband and pockets, the suspect pulled away. A struggle ensued and the officer called for backup. Many neighbors exited their homes and demanded an explanation of what was going on. Backup arrived and the officers were able to subdue the suspect and put him in handcuffs. Officers continued to search the suspect and found a folding knife and two bags of marijuana. Officers charged Carlos Lemon of 130 Dartmouth Street with assault and battery on a police officer, possession of a Class D substance, disturbing the peace and unlawfully carrying a dangerous weapon.
