Marathon Spotlight: South Ender to Run 4th Boston Marathon

Art Mercurio is at it again.The Boston resident this spring will embark on his fourth B.A.A. Boston Marathon – his seventhoverall, and he’s doing it to support American Red Cross disaster relief efforts.Art is a Professor and Interim Chairman of the Department of Cancer Biology at the Universityof Massachusetts Medical School. His laboratory studies the molecular basis of breast andprostate cancers.He received his B.S. in biochemistry from Rutgers, a Ph.D. in cell biology from Columbia andwas a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Center for Cancer Research at M.I.T. He was a faculty memberat Harvard Medical School and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center prior to UMASSMedical School.He lives in Boston’s South End with his wife Pam.Would you like to support Art’s fundraising goal for the team?
