Things to Know in the South End Today, May 8: Free Workshop on Chinese Herbs
1. Weather: The National Weather Service is predicting a cloudy day, with a high near 70 degrees and a 50 percent chance of showers or a thunderstorm. 2. Free Chinese Herbs Workshop: Tonight from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., you can stop by Pathways to Wellness (1601 Washington St.) for a free workshop on Chinese herbs. Rosé Tasting: Spend your Saturday at The Urban Grape (303 Columbus Ave.) for a grand rosé tasting, from 2-5 p.m. Over a dozen rosés from around the world will be open at each store to sample, for free. Boston Bites Back: There’s a special fundraiser coming up next week at Fenway Park – Boston Bites Back, a chef-inspired event held at Fenway Park in support of The One Fund. Calling all Entrepreneurs: Pack up your business plan and bring it to the Boston Center for Adult Education (122 Arlington St.) to join business consultant Kim L. Clark and a group of hopeful entrepreneurs for round robin discussions You’ll receive a critique of your business model; smart advice on marketing/PR/social media strategies; insights into sales distribution channels that make sense for you and your customers; and advice on financing options in today’s cruel economy. Concert Tickets on Sale: Tickets went on sale today for the inaugural Boston Calling Music Festival, to be held at City Hall Plaza on May 25-26. Opening at BCA: Starting tonight at the Boston Center for The Arts (539 Tremont St.), Wellesley High Theatre Company presents a self-scripted drama Passenger, a show about one teen’s journey that moves between reality and abstraction as she faces cancer. Become a police officer: The civil service exam for police officers and state troopers is being offered on April 20 at various locations around the state.
