Performances Announced for Boston Pops July 4 Concert
This year, the Boston Pops will feature all New England performers for their 40th Fourth of July celebration at the Hatch Shell. The two day concert on July 3 and 4 will feature Grammy-winner Susan Tedeschi, Howie Day, Ayla Brown, and Ellis Hall as well as the Tanglewood Festival Chorus and the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra led by Maestro Keith Lockhart. While the celebration will keep traditions such as the real cannons and a ceremonial flag drop with confetti shot, for the first time in over 20 years, the celebration will not be televised nationally. A local broadcast will still be available through WBZ NewsRadio 1030 starting at 6 p.m., the CBS-affiliate WBZ-TV at 7 p.m. and at www.cbsboston.com. The event’s first official app has also been been released for download at the Apple Store and on Google Play under “Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular.” The app includes an event schedule, vendor information and photo sharing capabilities with other app users. A finalized event schedule has not yet been released. For more event information and updates visit www.july4th.org. SOUTH END PATCH: Facebook | Twitter | E-mail Updates South End Patch
