Things to Know in the South End, June 17: Cell Phone Donations Needed

1. Weather: The National Weather Service is predicting a sunny day, with a high near 83 degrees. There’s a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. 2. Donations Needed: Planet Self Storage, (33 Traveler St.) is seeking donations of used cell phones to be given for soldiers. Drop off your old cell phone at the front desk, and they will donate them for you. See here for more information.  3. Bootcamp in Southie: This one’s not in the South End, but it’s on the beach! Ultimate bootcamp is hosting a four-week summer bootcamp at Carson Beach in the mornings. Programs start at $ 39. See here for more information.  4. Author Talk: Tomorrow night, author Philip Gambone will be at the South End Branch Library (685 Tremont St.) to read from his current work-in-progress, retracing the steps of his father who, as a soldier, was sent to Europe during the Second World War.
