Police: Pair Charged with Stealing a Phone in New York Pizza
The following information was supplied by the Boston Police Department. Charges listed do not indicate convictions. A couple from Dorchester were charged with stealing a phone from a customer at New York Pizza on Monday night. Boston Police officers got a call for a larceny in progress in New York Pizza at 435 Massachusetts Ave. at around 12:48 a.m. on May 13. Dispatch told the officers that the suspects were a male and a female walking towards Tremont Street. The store employee told the police that they saw the man steal the victim’s phone while watching the security tapes from off the counter and leave the store. Officers noticed two people fitting the provided description at Tremont Street and North Hampton Street. According to the police report, the suspect told police that he had been in New York Pizza, but he did not steal a phone. The police noted that the woman appeared intoxicated and tried to walk away. Officers frisked the woman and allegedly found a phone in her shirt. Officer returned the phone to the victim. Officers charged Tanya Johnson of 1847 Dorchester Ave., and Carl Booker of 214 Harvard Street, Dorchester and charged them with larceny of $ 200 in a building. Woman Charged with Drug Possession at Boston Medical Center

A Boston woman was arrested and charged with drug possession at the Boston Medical Center campus over the weekend after allegedly tresspassing and giving police a fake name. Police responded to Boston Medical Center at 3 a.m. on Sunday for a report of a person doing drugs at 840 Harrison Ave. When police arrived, they reportedly found multiple syringes in the area. Police interviewed a woman they suspected to be involved, who said she had no medical reason to be at Boston Medical Center, police said. During the interview, the woman allegedly gave a fake name to police. The woman, Loralie Fuller, of 39 Boylston St., was arrested and charged with tresspassing. During a search, officers reportedly found an unmarked pill bottle with dozens of Ibuprofen 800mg pills. When asked where she got these, Fuller told police, “I got them from a friend. They aren’t mine,” according to the report. Using Fuller’s real name, police learned that she had two outstanding default warrants out of Boston District Court for drug possession charges, and another warrant out of Fitchburg District Court for shoplifting. Police: Man Charged with Drug Possession, Attempting to Break into Car on Harrison Ave
Boston Police observed a man looking into the windows of a blue Volvo while trying to open the front driver’s side door on Harrison Avenue at about 1:55 a.m. on April 27. The officer asked the suspect what was going on. The suspect reportedly turned around and looked frightened. The suspect reportedly started speaking rapidly. The officer thought that the suspect might try to make a run for it. The suspect stated that the vehicle belonged to his girlfriend. The suspect stated that he had just gotten off work and was looking to meet his girlfriend there. The suspect then told officers that he was off of his medications and that his girlfriend was on her way with the medication. According to the police, the suspect’s story continued to change. During his conversation with the officer, the suspect continued to place his hands in his pockets after the officer asked that he keep his hands in plain sight. The officer decided to search the suspect and preformed a pat and frisk. The officer found a pill bottle in the suspect’s pocket. The suspect told the officer that this was his medication. The officer investigated the pill bottle and found 15 Suboxone and Promethazine. Officers arrested Mathew Walsh of 425 Beale Street, Milton, and charged him with attempting to break into a vehicle and possession of a Class B substance. South End Patch

Man Charged in Overpass Stabbing Held Without Bail
The man whom authorities believe fatally stabbed another man in the South End last month was held without bail, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office. Christopher W. Powell, 39, of Everett, was arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on Wednesday morning on murder charges for the stabbing death of 44-year-old Corey Thompson, whose body was found under the I-93 overpass in the South End in late February. Assistant district attorney Edmond Zabin, chief of the district attorney’s homicide unit, told the court at Powell’s arraignment that Thompson had been stabbed approximately eight times, including wounds to the torso and two to the chest. A passerby noticed Thompson’s body under the I-93 overpass near Traveler and Albany Streets around 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 25 and called police. State police detectives were able to link Powell to the scene through video surveillance, witness statements and phyiscal evidence from the scene, the DA’s office said. Powell also allegedly admitted to the crime, according to the DA’s office. His motive for the stabbing still remains under investigation, said DA spokesperson Jake Wark.
