Police: Fight on West Newton Leads to Drug Arrest

Police who responded to a fight in the South End ended up arresting two men, one on drug charges and one for disturbing the peace. Boston Police officers responded to a fight in the area of West Newton Street and St. Botolph Street at about 4:25 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5, according to police. Officers stopped a group of 10 men on the Southwest Corridor at Newton Street and began to frisk each person. Police reported that one of the men frisked had a lump in his left pants pocket, which he reportedly told police was a “bag of rice.” The officer told the man to take the bag out of his pocket. According to police, the suspect pulled out a large bag of rice packaged with smaller bags of heroin. Officers also found a digital scale and $ 208 in cash. Officers placed Lamar Joel Stanford of 430 Columbus Ave. under arrest and charged him with possession of a Class A substance with intent to distribute. While interviewing the suspect, another man began to yell and cause a disturbance. Police said they told the man to keep his voice down, but he refused. Police: Two Women Hurt During Knife Fight on Shawmut Avenue

Two women were treated for non-life threaning stab wounds after a knife fight on Shawmut Avenue on Wednesday night, according to Boston Police. Boston Police responded to a report of a person slashed or stabbed near 609 Shawmut Ave. at about 8:25 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8. When offficers arrived, they found two people bleeding from slash and stab wounds sustained during a fight, police said. Police said that a fight had broke out between three women. According to the report, one woman stabbed another at least once on her left arm. As the first victim was stabbed, a second stepped in to help her, leading to the second woman also being stabbed, this time in the temple. Police ruled both wounds to be non life-threatening. The victims provided a description of the suspects and officers stopped a woman near Ruggles Street fitting the description. The officers brought the suspect in for an identification procedure and one of the victims positively identified the woman. Boston Police arrested Lashonda Johnson of 1170 Tremont Street, Roxbury, and charged her with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Argument Leads to Roommate Fight on Albany Street
The following information was supplied by the Boston Police Department. Charges listed do not indicate convictions. An argument amongst roommates turned violent on Wednesday evening. Boston Police responded to an assault and battery report at about 12:31 on Wednesday, March 13 at 601 Albany Street. Officers spoke to the victim, who stated that his roommate struck him. The two had had an argument about late night visitors. When the roommate asked the victim if he had been drinking, the suspect said no. At this point, the suspect became angry, police said. An arugment ensued and the suspect slapped the victim and punched him in the throat. Officers observed redness on the victim’s throat. Officers spoke to the suspect, who refused to provide officers with her license or any information. The suspect eventually provided her license and admitted to slapping the victim because of the nature of their argument. Fight at Pine Street Inn Home Leads to Arrests

Police arrested two men on Monday for allegedly starting a fistfight inside a Pine Street in rooming house. Officers responded to a report of a fight in an apartment inside 1740 Washington Street. As officers were en route, dispatch informed the officer that the fight was between four different people. A resident directed the officers to the apartment when they arrived. A female let officers into the apartment. Officers observed three males in the apartment, one of which was bleeding from the nose and bottom lip. While the officer tried to ask the room what had happened, the female told police that her two friends had been arguing and the argument turned violent. While talking to the female, one of the men interrupted to clarify minor details about the argument, which turned into a shouting match. The argument quickly deteriorated into a fistfight. Officers collected a white towel, a white sweatshirt and blue jeans that all had blood on them. Officers arrested Martin Waters and Brian Swider, both of 185 West Canton Street, Boston, and charged them both with assault and battery.
